It made me think about how much the way you deliver the story makes the reader understand it in different ways. Things can be interpreted so differently based off of how you tell it.

This module made me notice how stories are used in places like advertising, like the Little Red Riding Hood commercial for cars and the Dr.Pepper commercial. They help deliver messages in a way that sticks with us because they engage our emotions and imagination.

It’s amazing how many of these there are. It highlights how there are some stories that we just continually tell over and over again, or that we assume that viewers/listeners know and so we can use them as shorthand for points we might want to make.

This module especially the little red riding hood “stories” were interesting: seeing them in a new light was splendid.

The module has made me think more about how stories are used and the way it’s delivered strikes emotions in us. One of the stories is The Little Red Riding Hood.

This module made me realize how often stories are used in my daily life like for example in ads or conversations. The way they’re told really shapes how we feel and remember them.

Very much so! Often we don’t even really remember the story we thought we knew because it has been used so many times in other ways.

This module make me think about all the story that I hear or see before. It make me think did the person add there own idea, feeling, twist in the story.

This module made me think of how many versions of a single story there could be. I know that a lot of the same stories could be told very differently depending on the region. I also saw how there are many different techniques that go into telling a story and how easy it is to tell the audience about the story, rather than telling the story to the audience.

This made me consider that not all stories are the same as they are intended for certain audiences so they feel attachment as they also have similar experiences. It’s hard to create stories for different countries because of the culture each one impacts them so differently in which a person like in Europe wouldn’t understand folktales from Asia or Africa as it’s not intended for them

What’s interesting is that even though there are so many unique stories, there are actually many similar motifs found across cultures and continents. When we look at using a narrative in a speech, however, it is a really good idea to consider who your audience is and what cultural narratives they may or may not share.

This module made me realize that many stories like folklore can have different adaptations and be told in different perspectives. I never realized how many verions existed of the little red riding hood. I always considered it to have a heroic ending where she gets saved especially because it is told to kids all time. Culltures also play a big role in how stories are told. A lot of folk-stories have been simmered down to a version where kids can get a lesson and avoid a bad ending however eastern countries are more comfortable adding a dark twist.

It’s impossible to pinpoint exactly how a story becomes part of the general cultural knowledge that people have and more specifically why it is a particular perception of that story. There is a scholar who likens this to a fairy tale being its own kind of meme that circulates in a society.

This module made me realize how impactful stories are in our everyday life. That we need stories to convince/ persuade people into what we want out of them; money, time, support. Or how stories can cause chemical reactions in our brain that make us remember that person/ their message more than the average person.

The use of a story in efforts of persuasion is everywhere, especially in political speeches.

This module really made me think about how when giving a speech delivery is the main thing. If you don’t make it interesting for the audience they aren’t going to be fully listening to your story.

A story is in many ways a tool to help you engage an audience – but yes, delivery is vital!

This module has in fact taught me things about what I hear on a day to day basis. I have realize that personal stories and first hand accounts are much more interesting to me than secondary sources. I think hearing a story from the primary source can enhance a story and engage me more.

I agree! Primary sources are great. One of the things that a lot of secondary resources are doing, however, is attempting to tell you a kind of story to help you make larger sense of primary materials.

This module really made me think about how much stories influence our daily lives, often without us even noticing. I now see how stories are not just in books or movies but in everything from ads to conversations. The way a story is told really shapes how we understand and connect with it. Like with Little Red Riding Hood, there are so many versions depending on how it’s presented, and each one can deliver a different message or emotion. It made me more aware of how delivery changes the meaning and impact of a story.

The module benefited to my understanding regarding the stories that are very common and sometimes you have a one dimensional perspective on them, give a different perspective and a third dimension. Seeing ads and interpretations of it allows me to better understand the deeper picture

How would you explain that deeper picture?

I really enjoyed this module as it reminded me of the Children’s Literature class I took. We read different versions of The 3 Little Pigs and when relating it to this class and module I could easily draw the importance of perspective in story telling as I did in the last class I took.

I do a more complex version of this project in the children’s literature class that I teach. I began using it in this one because it provides a good way to practice and experience how we can shift and change how a story gets perceived by our choices in delivery.
